Day 12: Power's Overrated

It's the last day of Christmas break! To celebrate this we headed to the mall near our house.

The mall is full of distractions...and that's before you ever walk in the front door.

It was about 55 degrees when we went to the movie. It felt a bit chilly, but it didn't stop the kids from booking it straight to the water.

We went to the mall to hit the cheap seat movies to see Alpha and Omega. Really cute movie, a little awkward, but a good movie.

The kids also loved the rocks and trees. We ended up playing outside the mall for quite a while.

Bri thought this looked like an upside down palm tree.

Finally, we went to Tammy's to hang out for a bit and pick up a few things she had for us. But we had only been there a few minutes when the power went out. The power company said it would be several hours before it was back on and that the outage included my house and hers. Which meant we couldn't go home - because the only way in my house is through the garage, and well...that's electric.

So we lit candles and played with flashlights. Then we headed out in the back yard, lit up the fire it and roasted marshmellows for a couple hours. The kids LOVED it and we ended up having a great time, without power.

The power finally came back on around 7. We headed home and did a frantic "get ready for school tomorrow" dance. Now the house is quiet and life goes back to normal tomorrow.

Are you all ready for school to start again?
